This isn't related to anything actually in GW, so I decided to start it here

I was just wondering how many of you moved on to Aion? Or tried it out at all?
Played the beta or have since stopped playing already?

And if you did start playing, do you still check out the GWGuru forums?

I haven't been on GW in a few months, partly due to holidays and good weather, but recently due to Aion. I check guru almost daily still though.

I've only encountered one other GW player!
Almost everyone I've met has moved on from WoW or EQ.

I can't be the only one!

There are few threads about Aion already...

I'm playing Aion currently (well, not in this second - I'm sick and don't have energy for anything besides L4D and TF2), level 28 Templar and level 27 Spiritmaster.

Very fun game, I expect it to entertain me for at least another month or two. Not sure what after that - L4D2 and Borderland are coming out, so is Dragon Age.

Playing Aion as a filler, waiting for something good to come out. I still browse guru because, well, I have to.

Most people I meet are whiny bitches from WoW, but I've met quite a few people from Guild Wars.

I bought Aion when it came out, I still have not played it however due to school and work and whatever else life throws at me. When I purchased the game I had no intention of "moving on" to Aion but instead plaything through the game just for the experience. GW will always be my #1 but then again...like I said...I still havent played Aion so I will just have to wait and see =]

WoW is pretty mediocre too. And of course WoW is boring in the lower levels, so is Aion.

Lower levels of Aion consists of doing kill x mob and collect y drop quests with pretty animations. You play solo until level 17, where you group to do Krall/BC quests. When you hit 20 after questing and grinding elite mobs, it's back to solo play until 25, unless you decide to do TC/whatever the Elyos equivalent is. At 25 you get to enter the Abyss, do more kill x mob collect y item quests, with ganking added. You also finally get to do your first instance, which is short, piss easy, and has an 18 hour lockout. Most quest rewards are shit, and there aren't enough quests to level up, so in between an 18 hour lockout and no more quests it's grind grind grind. That's basically the game until your mid 30s, where you possibly get to start raiding bosses, and doing quests such as kill 400 elite mobs.

It's fun at first, but gets very boring very fast. It brings nothing new to the table. It's nothing more than a mediocre korean game, with horrible flight combat and fortress sieges which are screaming lag and crash (not to mention you're pretty useless in them until 40).

I heard the Aion grind was reduced for the western audience and a patch soon-to-come is going to reduce it further to help little kids get successful.

If lowering the group xp on elites means making the game easier, then yeah, it's hellofalot easier now.

The new patch will raise the quest reward xp on lvl40+ quests.

As far as I know, the only thing released regarding the quest xp reward increase was a small korean chart. Any actual confirmation that they're only updating it for 40+ quests?

Daraaksii, they lowered the exp AND the difficulty. Mobs hit really weaker and have less health. I remember them two-hitting my SM through my shields. Now I can survive... 3 hits! But a lot of people noticed that you level slower in 1.5 till 20, because they lowered the stats on elite monsters.

Arkantos - About the sieges, seems like only some people are suffering from crashes and lags. I've been in sieges with about 100-150 people at one time (sure, I was only 28, so I rarely did some damage to the general) and had no lag or other problems. They did promise to fix it. Try visiting Aionsource sometimes ;d

Blah, don't feel like reading through the whole thread. All I saw was the chart and a translation. Also from what I've read, it's a lot more than a few people suffering from lag and crashes. They did promise to fix it, but actions speak louder than words (even when typed!), and with all the shit that needs to be fixed, it (and the other shit) needs to be fixed fairly fast if NCSoft want to keep a lot of their players.
